Hi,

The "Novice Quarter Gallon" transmitter is in the 1981 ARRL Handbook.
They are somewhat vague about the final plate voltage but they use
filter caps setup to handle 1300 volts as a 'safety margin' and suggest
that TV transformers with 600 volts AC to 700 VAC (or so) may be used
with the full wave bridge specified. That's gonna get darn close to a KV.

The 250 watts is input power as that's how it was specified in the FCC
rules for the Novice band at the time. And the tubes are 6KD6. Sweepers
from big honkin' televisions.
