[Boatanchors] Transformer Question

Keith,
When I was about 13 or 14 years old eyebolt and 8 W tube amplifier by mail order.
It had a mechanical hum coming from the power transformer.
I sent it back to them for repair. When it was returned to me I found that they had put rubber grommets on the mounting bolts of the transformer. It didn't correct the problem completely but it did improve it somewhat.
