[Boatanchors] [Ham-Computers] FORMAT PROBLEM

I just got the shock of my life when I called HP regarding the formatting
issue:

HP tells me that I CANNOT install any operating system other than Win 8
because it is built into the BIOS!

Well,  strike up another bunch of crap from HP. . . .

Wish I still had my Commodore 64!

I have a new HP ENVY laptop machine with Windows 8  pre-installed. 

 

I want to install Win 7 and dual boot with Win 8.

 

However,  I cannot install Win 7 because Win 8 was installed first;  So,  I
tried to format the 1TB drive but cannot format the C: drive because that is
where Windows is installed.

 

The drive is a Travelstar 5K1000 which is made by Western Digital (They were
no help).

 

So,  how the heck can I format this drive?
