[Boatanchors] WANTED: FT-243 Crystal for 7160 khz

There were a number of commercially available crystals that had a machine screw and a knob through the cover of the holder.  By varying the pressure on the crystal one could change the frequency.  Depending on the actual crystal, as much as 2 or 3 kHz (at the fundamental) could be covered.

Several years ago, I came up with a kit which can be installed on FT-243 holders to achieve this.  Frankly, there wasn't that much of a demand and I stopped making them.  But, I still have a few left.

There was an article in QST, back when the earth began to cool, that 
used a screw mechanism
to apply pressure to the Xtal that caused it to shift frquency. Touted 
as a Novice VFO (IIRC).
