The frequency tolerances on FT-243 crystals is not all that good! Also, by loosening the 3-screws that hold the face-plate on the holder, you can often adjust the frequency.
A number of the "olde tyme" Novice crystal manufacturers listed either 0.01% to 0.03% tolerance for their crystals. At 7000 kHz 0.01% equals 700 Hz and 0.03% equals 2100 Hz.

I've got a fist full of 75 and 40 meter xtals here, FT-243 types of course and almost all of them are 200-300 cycles off what the label shows.
Who knows if that's the way they were spit out at the factory or if it is just due to aging? Close enuff for AM work though.
