The odd frequencies were often specified by the guys who figured out 
that if everyone was on the '0' or the '5', you could sneak in between 
them with an odd frequency.  Of course when your receiver had an 18 
kHz IF bandwidth, nothing helped much!

Now we've come full circle.  When is the last time you heard a Ham on 
an OTHER than 0 or 5 frequency, especially on SSB????   Digital dials 
have corrupted us back to 'channelized' operation....
