Because it will cost you about $45 for one freq.
And it won't be an FT-243.  It will be an HC-6.

The programmable oscillators (which I was told wouldn't work
and which worked just fine ;-)  I've been using to sub for crystals
will cost you about $4 each. 
I just received one for 3890 and one for 3880 KC and will be
using them in one of the light aircraft projects.
