The Pace unit uses a glass solder tube, which does not erode, but can get
clogged if you release the pump w/o waiting a fraction of a second after
the joint is clean.
Pace recommends dropping a roughly 6" piece of heavy buss wire down the
snout and melting the passage clean. There is a small wire brush for
cleaning oxides out too.
Those have worked well for me for over 30 years!
