The Pace units have three filters:

First, a felt plug in the rear end of the solder tube. It's life depends
mostly on how much flux is on the joints or added. You can wad up a cotton
ball asa a substitute.

The Millipore filter. Not on early units. Disk shaped clear plastic in the
suction line. If they get fluxed, you can dribble alcohol through them and
they perk right up.

Felt filters on Gast pump. These can be cleaned while flushing the pump
with alcohol or Varsol.

The unit does need replacement tips...  they erode.
