[Boatanchors] Antenna Question...

I have a Sunair KW amplifier and automatic tuner that it says is designed
to feed a 32' whip, a 75' wire, or a 150' wire. The tuner is hung on
the side of a tree, and there is a pretty puny ground under it, as much
of a ground rod as I could drive in until it hit solid rock. I have
150 feet of wire in an inverted L. The tuner seems to tune it pretty
well across the spectrum, except it had a problem on 160M. There I
tried a series capacitor - the tuner includes one that is intended for use
with the 75' wire - and that allows it to tune on 160. So I have a clip
lead to ground the antenna when I'm not using it, or to short out the
capacitor for ordinary use, or to leave the capacitor in for 160M.
