[Boatanchors] And Now for Something Competely Different: Zenith

Just for fun, I electrically restored a cool Zenith 4B639
6-volt farm radio. Left all the "Zenith-" branded caps
inside because they were neat. Just clipped one end and
subbed a modern around them. Had to rebuild one IF can
and replace a bad 1N5 IF tube. Very sensitive and has
a really nice sound. This was back when the Quality was
still going in before the name, etc. ;-)
One big challenge with this set- it came with the box,
although it's in crumbles and fragments.
That red box with it's original "Zenith" packing tape
is worth trying to recover, I think.

Anyways- the one thing unrecoverable is, of course,
the shriveled remains of the clear dial cover.
It was 5.5 inches by 4.5 inches.:

I once heard that someone was making replacements.

Anyone?

p.s. At the bottom on the side: that printed pattern on the
laminate is flaking. Is there some sort of coating I can use
to prevent it getting any worse?
