That's about right, Al. Textron bought Globe in Sept. 1959 and moved
the manufacturing operation to Rockford IL in 1961. I didn't go
through the entire year, but GC Electronics (Textron's division that
included Globe, RME, and General Cement) ran a 2 page ad in the Dec.
1962 issue of QST that featured the RME-6900, HG-303 (along with its'
screen modulator kit and matching VFO), the Globe Chief Deluxe, and
other products. Out of curiosity, has anyone else got (or even seen)
an HG-602 six and two meter transmitter that was also featured in that ad?
As a side-note, the reason I have the Dec. '62 QST handy is because it
includes a product review on the WRL SB-175 "Meteor" DSB-AM-CW
transmitter. Pat, WB9GKZ, used his Meteor to conduct the Vintage SSB
Net on 3840 last Saturday morning, driving an AL-80B amplifier, gaving
me the opportunity to complete our second "Meteor -to-Meteor" QSO. My
Worked All States-DSB total still stands at one however, so more DSB
contacts are welcome!
