I have a WECo model 302 in the shack. Enjoy them while you can.
AT&T is in the process of getting rid of POTS twisted pair and forcing
everyone to use cable phones or UVerse or some other digital thing.
The old phones' days as functioning usable telephones, are numbered.
The number of folks old enough and smart enough to realize copper wire
is reliable and gets the job done with a minimum of fuss is a minority
now so we are considered no longer profitable. If you can't be
suckered then you have to be unloaded. At least as hams, we'll still
be able to communicate when the cable, cell phone etc. is down in an
emergency and the old twisted pair has been shut down. Some state
legislatures may try to block AT&T's attempt, but not if they don't
think anyone cares.
