[Boatanchors] SX-88

I wonder if Hallicrafters changed the bezel within the production of the HT-20 / SX-88.  My HT-20 is s/n 11 and the bezel is still in perfect condition.  However, at least for this particular transmitter, Hallicrafters did not "prime" the front panel before painting and there are several places where the paint has "flaked off" showing bare metal underneath.

what's interesting to me is that the pot metal dial frame has warped
like what happened to my HT-20.  I knew that was a problem with some
HT-20s but I never saw it with the 88 until now.   That must have been
one made with the same metal used for the HT20 bezel.  I bet they
changed the composition later on for both the tx and the rx.
