One of them is a 20-volt 6AK5, and the other is a 40 volt dual triode
like a 2C51. They were indeed used in carrier systems, both terminals
and repeaters, both cable and open wire line. I don't know if, in spite
of the odd heater voltages, they are prized by audiophools for the W.E.
trademark and for being triodes.
