I have a nice National NC 125 receiver (like I had as a Novice) and I am trying to get it working like it should.
Sensitivity and gain are good and audio stages working well. S meter works great also.
The RF gain control, R4, is a 10K wire wound potentiometer and it acts as if it has been replaced with a linear pot instead of a pot with proper taper. The manual doesn't say what the taper of the RF gain control should be. When the gain is rotated to the right, the noise and signals do not appear until the pot has been rotated to the right for about 85 percent of its' range.
Does anyone know the proper taper for R4 in the NC 125? Does anyone have a properly working NC 125 who can measure the pot in a correctly performing NC 125.
Also having trouble with the CW oscillator which is one half of a 6SL7. May have trouble with the 6H6 detector. Radio is performing well except on CW. When the CW feature is rcorrected, it will be a great performer in my reestablished Novice CW station form 55 years ago.
If you have an NC 125 or particular experience with the CWO circuitry therein, please make suggestions. I have recapped the receiver. Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
