There's coax and there's coax.  The prob. may not be the tool, it may
be the feedline.

I wouldn't fool with RG58.  Some 8X and 58 sized feeds are a PITA.
The easiest jumper feedline to work with to me has been Belden 213.
The jacket is kind of soft and cuts away easy with a box cutter.  The
dielectric takes a bit more heat than foam.  But anyway, whatever
you're trying to do, start with good name brand feed like Belden.  If
you are working with some plastic jacket foam junk throw it away.
