I remember the strange propagation when I was across the pond, '68 - '69.
We heard calls for a medevac from Korea while we were on a ridge in
'Nam. That was the old PRC-25 with the measuring tape style short
whip. We pulled out the "long" segmented one and listened for a bit.
I didn't get my license until mid '80. That fall I went and got the
General done in October 1980. Originally KA4PBD.
I renewed in 1982 while in Missouri. Checked one wrong box and got the
Zero land call.
The activity on 10 meters in 80 was pretty darn good! I was at Ft.
Benning, and made a whole lot of contacts in AZ, NM, and NV.
The late '50s would be out of MY range. I was born in '50.
