Mark,
Listen for the oscillator on a well calibrated receiver. It will need a
BFO. The modern solid-state all band receivers are great for this.
Easily settable memories are a plus, as you'll often need to move
between two frequencies. (Trim high - pad low.) I like my Sony 2010 for
this. Most freq counters put too much of a load on the oscillator, and
pull it off freq.
