Obviously, the answers to your questions should come from the particular
selling vendors in question and not from all the "shipping experts" here
on the forum. And, if you're so inclined, you can play with the Canadian
postal rate shipping calculations on their web site. Their rates seem
dependent on dimensions of the carton, weight, and value of the item.
Other international shippers like UPS and other shipping carriers, also
have web sites where you can compute shipping charges for a particular
length/width/height/weight/value carton to see if the Canadians are
ripping you off (which I seriously doubt). One might also have to
consider possible insurance costs and the shipper's cost for materials,
or other shipping handling costs. I can recall several years ago when I
bought a new rotator from an outfit in Canada, not only did I have to pay
for the rotator and the actual UPS shipping charge to NJ, UPS also billed
me an additional $40 for customs duties.

In the world of domestic and international shipping with its imedded and
external costs, shipping costs may be perceived as not to be fair, but if
you stop and analyze the entire process, you'll generally find that the
world is not ripping you off.
