OK, let's forget China. I just went to epay and for drill pulled up Heathkit HG-10 VFOs as an example. There are four of them listed right now and they hardly weigh anything. The US ones show shipping charges of $15 and $18. The Canadian ones show shipping of $35 and $61. What's that all about? I can send things to Canada for a little more then what it costs to send something within the states.

The answer is simple ... Government subsidy.

It gets even worse, all that stuff from China arrives in containers,
then put into the USPS system to be delivered. And the USPS gets
NOTHING for that.

The UPU rules are a tad outdated.

I have given up buying anything from Canada for this reason. You want to buy a $10 item and the shipping will be $20! Who is ripping who off? I've sent things to Canada without paying outrages prices. Yes the delivery was slow, however. When I see something from Canada these days, I just blow it off. Costs are just too extreme for me. (You want a $5 3 oz. vacuum tube, and it will cost you $10 or more to get it.)
