[Boatanchors] Eico 950B question

Richard,

By now you realize the bridge is working as it should. One to be careful with is when you test large caps at higher voltages. When you are through with the test turn the voltage down slowly rather than rapidly slamming it to zero because if you the cap will be discharging into a very low resistance (the wiper to the ground end of the pot) which will fry the end of the pot.

I think this box is just not meant for low dissipation resistors. I mainly wanted to see if it was a decent capacitor checker and it seems to be. It has a number of electrolytic caps in it that probably should be replaced. I have no memory of where I got it but think it was given to me years ago by someone who was cleaning out their junk. To me nothing that will do its job is junk.
