[Boatanchors] HF RF Amplifier expert advoce needed

I have a Heath SB 220 and a Heath SB221 amplifier and both are acting strange. I have NINE different kilowatt amplifiers and am experiencing strange behavior from three of them. I thought I knew something about RF amplifiers since I am an "old" Extra Class and First Class Radiotelephone license holder (before FCC began dumbing them down), but it seems that everything I thought I knew has escaped me because I can't seem to get a "hold" on what is taking place.

I don't want to start a harang and "one upmanship" of starting a thread where one gurhu knows more than another. That is why I would like knowledgeable RF amplifier folks to contact me via email DIRECTLY to let me bounce this strange behavior off of them.

I just purchased three matched pair of 3-500ZG tubes yesterday at the Jackson, Ms. hamfest, and I don't want to put in new tubes until I feel confident that the amplifiers are behaving as they should. I also have a heath SB 200 behaving the same way. I have new tubes. I have matched pair of 572B tubes for it also.
