For postage stamp type capacitors marked with the JAN
system paper caps have a silver dot in the upper left corner
and in the center of the bottom row. Mica caps with six
dots have a black dot in the upper left. There was also an
RMA six dot system which does not seem to have
differentiated the two types.
I couldn't find Micamold in either of the two early
1950s "Radio's Master" catalogue compilations I have. They
may just not have advertised there. Micamold made both paper
and mica caps.
My engineering mentor referred to them as "moldy mica"
capacitors. He is the one who tipped me off about Black
Beauty caps.
