The quality is horrible.  Al may be referring to the HP device on the 
"other" shelf that gives a "general" appearance of the 4XX family, or 
even the HP-1XXX family

The display sort of looks live a spectrum sweep.

I also saw the sloping one as did Jim.  Either a variable power supply, 
or a very old VTVM.
