Well,

We're getting our backs up in the air at one another and that is 
probably not the very best thing for the list or for ham radio. An 
unrepairable two meter FM handheld? During my stint in so called emcomm 
(we just called it field operations) I did repair those things under 
field conditions two different times. One of them was done on top of a 
big rock with only a pocket knife! The gummint folks were really 
dazzled! But so what. It's just part of ham radio even if not everybody 
can do it. I can't program a computer to be a radio but some other hams 
can. I wouldn't really try to build a satellite and get it launched but 
I think it's cool that some other hams can and do. Some radios people 
(not all of them hams) put together some impressive collections of old 
gear along with all of the documents and history. I ain't there but it's 
still cool and part of a *diverse* hobby. So now...

Lets stop taking pot shots at each other and get back to enjoying out 
*diverse* radio hobby.
