I believe Howard Radio Company was originally located at 451-469 East Ohio
Street, Chicago, Illinois. They produced radios from 1923 into 1948 but
their post 1945 efforts appear perceptibly minimal. I believe Howard had a
advertisement in the 1946 Radio Amateur's Handbook catalog section. There
is documentation of several of Howard's radios in the 4th edition of Ray
Moore's Communications Receivers, The Vacuum Tube Era 1932 - 1981.

Because Howard held the necessary RCA and related "pooled patents" licenses
regarding superhet radios, at various times, they manufactured radios for
Hallicrafters, Capehart, McMurdo Silver, Sears (Silvertone), Hammarlund
(BC-779 Super Pro SP-200 series - I as I recall) among others in addition to
their own SWL & amateur general coverage receivers.

In the 1930s they had moved to 1731-35 Belmont Avenue, Chicago, Illinois,
near one of McMurdo Silver's locations.

I thought several of their radios were quite neat looking but I have never
laid a finger on one.

Cheers,

Gerry
