[Boatanchors] RME 69 Crystal Filter and Cc/C adjust

Gang,

Many good observations here! I would probably agree more to the "cost of
production" thing on silk screening the panel would have been a pain
especially on a "wrinkle finished" paint job! The "operator worth his salt
doesn't need control function captions" is rather "snotty". This is not
new, as I have had a tremendous amount of trouble using "Windows 7" after
using "XP" configured with Windows 98 icons and layout. To me it's a bunch
of "BS" to change the "color and shape" of all the furniture and rearrange
the furniture "just because". A good computer buddy of mine and I fight
over this all the time. The ONLY thing I learned "practical" was a
statement made by a guru ("Woody Leonard"?) That EVERYTHING is there but
the locations are different and names have been changed, but it was "same-o,
same-o" stuff! Sorry for the diversion, I still can't help bitching about
Bill Gates seemingly wanting an infinity of money from what is basically
just a "revision" tactic of the same old stuff. Us "old farts" get hung up
on the way something looks and you don't want to mess around with changes.
Yup! Stuck in our ways!

One more "warning" I forgot! The "S": meter circuit in the RME-69 should be
probed around VERY CAREFULLY. If you short a meter terminal to ground, the
result will be a bent pointer and you gotta repair it your self and you
ain't gonna find a replacement! Been there, got ham fisted with a test
prod, and did all that! Makes you sweat profusely!

73 to all,

Sandy W5TVW

Gang,

Hi-res scans from original RME-69 documents have been posted:
http://www.skywaves.ar88.net/commrx/RME/RME.html

This should clear up the crystal-filter schematic issue. Their rambling
verbal explanation is another matter entirely.
