[Boatanchors] How to test for audio taper on a pot?

I have a 500K pot which needs to have an audio taper for a replacement 
in a signal tracer I am repairing.

Don't think I know what to look for as I rotate the pot to see if it has 
the audio taper.  I think it should change logarithmically, but not 
quite sure from if that is from the low side or the high side. Does 
anyone have any experience in this?
