[Boatanchors] Globe King 500A tuning

I downloaded a copy of the manual because this sounds like an interesting
rig.

The manual makes a claim about the screen bias circuit for the 4-250 that
if the
screen current goes up, the voltage goes down, etc. Looking at the
schematic the
bias circuit is just a full wave rectifier with C-L-C and a bleeder. Why
would this
do anything special?
