    The "Master" was published every year for two or three 
decades.  Its a compilation of catalogue excerpts from many 
companies.  I am not sure how it was done, that is, whether 
the companies included paid for it or not but I think they 
must have. The book was published by United Catalog 
Publishers.  I suspect a search of used book sites would 
find dozens although I suspect old ones were mostly trashed. 
They are very valuable for historical research.
