Here's a goodie from my garage that I have had for a long time and
done absolutely nothing with. It is a BC-187A Transmitter (a
component part of the SCR-178 set) that covers 2400 - 3700
Kilocycles. It was made by Allen B DuMont Laboratories, contract
number 948-Phila-42. Uses a VT-25 (#10) tube and a VT-55 (#865)
tube that are not included. It seems to be complete and nothing
looks burned or overheated. However I don't know much more about it
that that. From what I gather it is a pretty rare set.

NS1W has an article on the SCR-178 on his Web page:

http://people.csail.mit.edu/sw/html/NS1W/scr-178.html

"The SCR-178 equipment is pre-WWII design army field equipment that
was meant to be transported on mules, among other ways, and was used
in WWII. The equipment covers 2.4 to 3.7 MHz. The equipment includes
the BC-186 receiver, BC-187 transmitter, and BC-188 modulator. I had
a BC-186 receiver as a kid that I used for some attempted QRP field
work. The set can be operated on 80 meter CW, though it is a bit
challenging, the receiver is a regen design - tuning is very fast and
spotting the TX is hard, as the RX overloads easily. The TX is a two
tube MOPA that puts out about 8 watts into a low impedance load."

I am asking $250.00 plus shipping for the transmitter.

If interested please reply by e-mail.
