And I give them really high marks in that area, Pete. Some clubs and
individuals make the effort as well. But overall, many pursue their
interest with tunnel vision, then complain about things going down the
tubes.

Isn't that the truth. I recall a certain 4 Land Extra class ham back
in the early 80s harassing folks on SSB, as well as the
Intercontinental net nonsense and so much more. Dopes sending their
porn pics (and I don't mean scantly-clad girly pics of yore) via SSTV
or other digital modes today, SSB & AM jamming and typical garbage on
160, 75, 40 and above. And of course - the corntesters.
At least you have to know CW to pick out the rude ops using that mode.
When all is said and done, it's what WE make it, not the FCC.
