[Boatanchors] Wall Warts and Switcher Power Supplies

My printer has an internal PS. It doesn't come on until I turn it on.

In the past I have had some that had an external supply.

The only things that I can readily point to in my house are several
laptops whose PS stays on to float the batteries.

I don't have Natural Gas, nor do any of my neighbors. When they built
this subdivision, they made it total electric by design. It is
aggravating. I'd rather they would run Natural Gas into the
neighborhood. I get a bit weary paying a ridiculous Electric bill!

Then again, I see the number of times my wife of over 42 yrs leaves a
burner still on. Makes me sort of happy that it isn't a flame.
Something about getting old?

I do some of the not so bright things myself.

For most of my low voltage sources I have simple transformer, bridge
rectifiers, voltage regulators and pass transistors. All of these have
the power switch in the leg to the transformer.
