Well, yes and no.

The *ROOT* issue and problem is WEB based mail.

That is how these folks get into an address book.  Their "bots" strike 
the web based E-mail system.

Since I always use an E-mail client on the desktop/laptop, I don't end 
up with the problem.

I only go to the ISP with a secure "SSL" login.

I use that session to clean out what is there, and NEVER have an address 
book on the web site.

Lessons learned by working as one of the Postmasters at the Pentagon.  
[Having had to clean out the Exchange Message Store on multiple Exchange 
Servers - AFTER some individual clicked on a "Link".]

It would take several of us days of making scripts tailored to look for 
certain strings.  The script would then clean *THAT* message from the 
system.
