The irony is that when Hammarlund used these .022 BBODs in the military SP-600s in the '50s, they soon realized they were crap. The military issued a work order to replace them all with .01 ceramic disks.

My son is an electric guitar player. He recently bought a barely functioning Fender amp. We replaced all the old paper caps with new yellow jackets and all his guitar buddies want to know the secret of that amp's great sound. We tell them that the old BBODs sound best when hitting the bottom of the garbage can.
