Modern, quality DMMs put only uA's of current through ohmmeter subjects. A 1 mA movement will
probably barely move, but start on a high range and reduce until the DMM reads the internal resistance.
Older ohmmeters put quite large currents through the device under test, especially on the lower
ranges, necessitating the more elaborate parallel resistor measurement methods.
