This is a point that seems to get lost on a lot of folks who focus
primarily on price. They see something listed on ebay for a high opening
bid or BIN price, or see something listed for sale online, and assume
that's the value. Seldom true. As Dave points out, more and more this stuff
is showing up far cheaper at most other events. Dayton does still hold that
'biggest attendance' distinction, but even when I was there in 2007 a lot
of prices dropped drastically by Saturday with high priced stuff going
unsold.

Precisely what I've been saying for the last 4-5 years. With the limited
number of younger hams and radio folks coming along behind us with any
interest in old gear, the pickings will only get better as we trim down and
eventually depart. They'll be able to sit back and pick the cream of the
crop for far lower prices than many paid during the big eBay feeding frenzy
of the past decade. You certainly don't see many folks referring to this
old gear as 'great investments' much these days.
TNX for posting all the photos, Nick. A good substitute for those of us who
couldn't attend. Looks like you guys had a great trip. Between the time at
Fair Radio, the gear available at Dayton, and the excellent WX, it doesn't
get much better!
