Hi All,
I know Doug Moore and have for many moons. He is an extremely gifted
engineer and brilliant innovative thinker. As I recall, he was the Chief
Engineer for the Lowrey Organ Company. Now closed, I think. When Bill
Halligan, Sr. sold Hallicrafters to Northrup in 1967, the Lowrey Organ
division, owned by Halligan, was NOT sold! So many Hallicrafters employees
made up the companies workers.
I have a custom modified geiger counter that Doug made for me. Since I am
totally blind, I needed one with audio output. Doug modified a counter
formerly used by the military, or scientists working with deadly radiation,
with audio output. Now I can check Alpha, Beta, Gamma or Radon radiation!
What I really need now is one of thos radiation suits those guys carrying
the counters wore! They did not protect one from fallout, just radiation
that might be around a nuclear reactor. My neighbors are sort of used to the
"crazy blind man down the stree" doing something insane, well at least
peculiar! Such as riding a Honda 70 CC trail cycle in the two empty lots
across from his house or climbing part way up the fifty foot R-25g tower to
attach some SW antenna he conjured up!
Now with me wearing one of those radiation suits, wearing a pair of
headphones and carrying a geiger counter wandering around ...
Doug is very knowable when it comes to all things geiger, so if you desire
one, he is your man!
Oh yes, if you talk by landline, ask him about his adventure with the police
and his alien space weapon!
