The truth be known, RCA definitely did produce several amateur radio transmitters during the mid to late 1930s.
There was the ACT-40 which was a 40-watt input phone and CW transmitter of which sections (r.f. unit, modulator, antenna tuner) were available or the entire transmitter was available for $235.00.
Then the ACT-200 which was rated at 200-watts phone and 260-watt CW of which sections were available or the entire transmitter (including power supply) for $475.00.
Finally, the ATR-219 transceiver (for the 2.5-meter band I believe) was available for$19.95 less batteries, headphone, microphone, and tubes.
There is a color advertisement on these transmitters on page 404 of the 1936 ARRL Amateur Radio Operator's Handbook.

Todd and list,
Although I know RCA didn't make amateur transmitters, I was thinking something commercial albeit low power (not 10KW!). I think I will reach out to the KSM folks to see what they would have used on the transmitter side of the house (just for kicks and giggles)!
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Look forward to firing up the old girl (and then trying to power up the CR-88 hihi)
