just to pic a nit - reed relays were certainly around before
WWII - patented in something like (IIRC) 1938 - and forms of
them used in various electronics of the time. While not
generally thought of as a "reed relay" (usually more as a
magnetically operated vacuum switch) the antenna relay in an
ART-13 is a form of reed relay. And the ART-13 was most
certainly a WWII transmitter.
