Hello all you National fans and experts,
I am struggling to get better alignment and tracking on some of the coilsets
for an HRO-5,which otherwise turned out well in the restoration.---
The coilsets have been thru many hands and the ''factory alignment'' has
long been scxrewed up .The series padders in the individual coilboxes are
multi turn mica compression trimmers which are accessed thru holes in the
back of the coilbox .--- there is no way to get at them, unless you pull the
whole coilset out of the receiver
How,the h...l,can you do this unless you trust your luck and good ears by
adjusting those padders a 1/4 turn at a time, shove the coilset back into
the radio and hope for the best.
National,I am sure, had a testfixture set up to just to do the coil and
tracking alignment, but what does ''Joe Ham '' do now.????
I have an HRO-7 where the coilset alignment and tracking are pretty much
''on the money'', they came with the radio and the padders appearently have
not been tempered with.----Those coils also work in the HRO-5 and the
improvement is substantial..
The manual is of little help --It does not tell you HOW to do it,except for
using a screwdriver,hi---
I hope there is some advice out there for a less painful solution ????
TNX in advance---73 de Olaf,KF4TP.--
