Maybe the rule could be no sales via ebay, but links for informational purposes like unusual sets or funny or unrealistic listings

While I agree with you in part - I have been part of news
groups (and reflectors) which were basically destroyed by
ebay ads and similar "hawking of wares". While I certainly
appreciate both humor - and the occasional "oh WOW" -
allowing any links has been - and still is - a slippery
slope into any "discussions" being totally buried by ads.
While it may seem draconian - an across the board ban seems
to have been effective in preserving the "discussion" nature
of this (and other) group(s).
