That's great Ray. I'd really like to see an SST1.

I have on display in my shack an original SST-1 transmitter that was
standard issue for allied agents during that time. It was given to me
by W4OVE (SK) who was in the OSS. He told me he took it behind the
German lines during the Normandy invasion, to report troop movements.
He was able to bring it home with him after the war. It's now about 68
years old.
It is in excellent condition. I've even had it on the air (40 meters)
and it worked fine, with the original 6L6GT tube, etc. I reformed the
caps before hand.
It is made to operate from 3 to 14 Mc (MHz) xtal controlled and has a
built in antenna tuner. It is tuned for maximum brilliance on a panel
mounted #47 pilot light indicator. Crude by today's standards, but it
works well.
I'm watching the"Wish Me Luck" series in hopes to be able to see one of
these there. I couldn't see enough of the one field rig I've seen so
far. It was a shot from the side showing mostly the suitcase The
actors were shown using an external key. My SST-1 has the key built
into the top panel, but also a plug for and external key..
