[Boatanchors] Car Radios

My mom & dad had a few early Mercedes sedans (180 or 190) in the 60's.
Somehow he ended up with a spare Blaupunkt radio - it had 3 band is I
remember correctly. U, M & L. It had the "seek and scan" feature too.
Also had a separate vibrator supply. Dang thing drew a lot of amperage.

PS - the auto-dim headlights had their faults. My college roommate's
mothers Lincoln (1980's) auto dimmer went berserk when she came up behind a
car that had a chrome bumper. The auto dimmer went into a frantic hi/lo
light show.

A family friend who owned a GM dealership for many years says he will never
forget when Cadillac introduced the automatic dimmer for high beams
(triggered by the headlights of an oncoming car). One elderly lady who
always bought Cadillac vehicles kept complaining that her headlights would
grow dim every time another car approached making it difficult to see.
Apparently she had been driving with her high beams on all of the time for
years. Even multiple calls from ever higher level Cadillac managers couldn't
convince her that her new car wasn't broken.

I imagine a lot of other drivers were really happy with her new car.
