[Boatanchors] unknown octal device

The devices feel lighter or about the same as a tube.
The only cold DC resistance I find between the five pins is 35 ohms between
pins 2 & 6.
I will attempt to get my Cannon back from my son and post a pic. However, I
am quite sure they are ballasts.
The appearance is similar to an old GE ? black metal tube that had three
diameters, each being smaller as one traverses from the base to the top (the
base-widest, the main part of the tube somewhat smaller in diameter and a
small portion at the top which is about a 1/4 inch less in diameter that the
main part).
The device is different having only two different diameters. The first is
the base & main part of the device are all the same diameter, the diameter
of the octal base, and totally about 2 & 3/4 inches tall. Then the "cap" is
about 1/4 inch less in diameter and about 1/4 inch in height. The device is
about 3 inches tall, not counting the pins.
Thanks,
Gerry

Triad made transformers. They sound similar to the UTC Ouncer line. Are they
significantly heavier than a tube would be? If so, they could well be a
Lint-to-Grid ot Plate-to-Line transformer.
