I didnt say the tube wasnt designed for RF,  just that the Zero bias was aimed at the Class B modulator builder since there wasnt much SSB needs then. 

I have a 1945 Taylor catalog in front of me.

  Most likely designed with that in mind but handbooks of the period do provide secifications for RF use and I've run the TZ-20 with good results on 40 & 20M CW.
