If you can introduce a little regeneration between the antenna 
connector and one of the following tubes (done this on BC-229
but not yet on RU, should work as well).  It's quite "touchy," but if
you get it "right," as you introduce more feedback you will not only 
see the selectivity sharpen, but weak signals you couldn't even 
hear before will come up out of the noise.  I'm still working on 
a good, easily controlled way to do this without hack-ery.
