      I agree, being of that age (71). I just had 
angioplasty. I never smoked but my diet was probably not 
very good for a while. My cardiologist suggested the books 
by Dr. Dean Ornish and my GP agrees. You do not have to be a 
total vegetarian. If you smoke _quit_, its the absolute 
worst thing you can do to your body. Not everyone who smokes 
gets lung cancer but everyone _does_ get cardio-vascular 
damage. At least some of this is reversable if you stop 
smoking.
     Its easy enough to find out the rules for heart and 
other health. I was very lucky that a problem was found 
_before_ I had a heart attack. Talk to your doctor about 
getting a stress test and watch that cholesterol level!
     My doctor told me he thinks I will last another twenty 
years, since I am being careful now.
