Hi Bill,
I don't believe your manual says L-17 for the BFO. It should be L-31.
Looking down into the BFO can, you will not see a slug, but a hollow
shaft with slots to accept a wide tuning tool.
If I am mistaken about the this, please let me know which manual you
have. I looked in different manuals including the Canadian version and
only saw L-17 as the low 10 meter band.
